It serves two roles, to be incredibly strong and reliable and have a gap wide enough to fit around the lips of large fish or securely above the lip. This hook swings from the back of the head via a Rasco 6.5H 120 lb split ring. The swinging hook is a key feature to reduced dropped fish. The 1/16” Stainless thru wire is hand bent and welded shut. The body is made from a durable and stretchy non toxic silicone. As well a custom barb has been cast onto the hook to ensure a secure connection. No zip ties needed.
